Showcase #4 w/ Pierre Coric + Karen Vantvelt

For this fourth showcase, we invited two artistic practices that investigate alternative forms of language and modes of communication that operate beyond words.
To offer insight into the research processes of artistic practices, and to acknowledge the time and experimentation these processes require, the Showcase presents works in progress, research materials, and exploratory try-outs.

Pierre Coric (Liège, °1994) takes analogue technologies and programming as the foundation of his practice, translating these systems into knitted installations, printmaking, kinetic objects, and related forms. For this showcase, he further explores the relationship between coding, quilting, and knitting through two work-in-progress installations.
The artistic practice of Karen Vantvelt (Wilrijk, °1986) resists confinement within any single discipline. From specific sites, she unfolds worlds in search of a language of feeling that transcends the cognitive. Her work takes shape as a poetic narrative composed of objects, movement, performance, sound, drawings, and wordless exchanges with others. Inviting the audience to her open rehearsal for a new performance in collaboration with Malinese dancers/choreographers Mohamed Diakite + Yacouba Diarra.
